Achieving Focus Through the Multiverse

During meditation practice, I'm often distracted by thoughts: perhaps tasks to be done, risks that exist, or scenarios that have unfolded in the past. These thoughts can make it difficult to achieve peace or focus in any given moment.

Recently, I've been applying the following tactic to dispel the thoughts & have been very successful: take the thought, whatever it is, and imagine the infinite set of similar scenarios that are possible. Rapidly flashing those ideas in my mind allows me to forget about the distracting thought and focus on the task at hand.
